Mangaluru: The dept of horticulture, in association with the Dakshina Kannada district administration, the ZP, and Kadri Park Development Committee, along with Siri Horticulture Association, will organise a fruit and flower show at Kadri Park here from Jan 23 to 26, on the occasion of Republic Day. The entry fee for the fruit and flower show is Rs 30 for adults, and Rs 20 for children. No fee for students in uniform and accompanied by schoolteachers. Various floral replicas/ designs will be the main attractions of the event. As part of the show, around 15,000 flowers of 30 varieties, includingsalvia, chrysanthemum, marigold, zinnia, dianthus, aster, vinca rosea, cockscomb, dahlia, petunia, torenia, grown in pots will be showcased. A demonstration of a vegetable garden will also be organised, featuring carvings made from fruits and vegetables. There will be displays of various ornamental plants, bonsai trees, and Ikebana flower arrangements. Different honey cooperative societies and farmer producer organisations will exhibit and sell various honey varieties and value-added products, and provide information on the medicinal properties of honey. Farmers should bring their exhibits to the park by 10.30am on Jan 22, said the joint director of the dept of horticulture.
