Mangaluru: Heralding a message of communal harmony and brotherhood, Hindus offered ‘hore kanike’ to the Hazrat Asayyed Ismail Waliyullahil Bukhari Manjanady Uroos. Several organisations, including Nithyananda Seva Samiti of Nithyananda Nagar, Hanuman Friends of Hindupura in Assaigoli, Team Aasaigoli, Shakti Friends Akasha Bhavana, Mangaluru, Sneha Balaga Mangaluru, Om Shakti Mangaluru, Barke Friends Kudroli, Brothers Kolya, and Sai Friends Assaigoli, jointly organised a hore kanike procession from Assaigoli Junction to the Manjanady Central Juma Masjid. As part of the offering, the organisations donated about 15 quintals of rice, sugar, vegetables, and other essential items for the Uroos.On the occasion, Sunil Poojary, president, Sai Friends Asaigoli, said that the aim of the hore kanike programme is to promote unity and brotherhood. He called upon people from all faiths to work collectively for the successful conduct of the Uroos festival. Another organiser, Ganesh Assaigoli, said by offering hore kanike, the Hindu community expresses its respect and goodwill. He wished for society to remain guided by God toward harmony and shared understanding.Manjanady Juma Masjid president Abdul Azeez Mysuru Bava expressed happiness that the Hindu community came forward voluntarily to offer hore kanike soon after the Uroos was announced to begin on Dec 17. “The Committee has accepted the goodwill gesture of the Hindu community wholeheartedly. They have fulfilled their promise by offering the hore kanike to our mosque,” he added.Abdul Azeez Parthippadi of the Manjanady Juma Masjid committee said the gesture of unity and harmony that the Hindus have shown is a testimony to the respect that they have towards the Muslim community, the masjid, and the Uroos festival. “This offering is a meaningful symbol of communal harmony and brotherhood that will foster peaceful coexistence,” he added.
