Mangaluru: The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) department’s sports meet and cultural programmes will be held from Jan 8. The event is being organised by the Karnataka State Panchayat Development Officers’ Welfare Association, Udupi district, in association with the zilla panchayat, Udupi, the department of youth empowerment and sports, Udupi, gram panchayat secretaries, accounts assistants, staff members and taluk- and zilla panchayat officials and employees.The sports meet and cultural programmes for taluk- and district-level panchayat officials and employees will be held on Jan 8, 9, and 10, said Manjunath Shetty, district president of the Panchayat Development Officers’ Association. He was addressing a preparatory meeting for the RDPR department officials’ and employees’ sports meet and cultural programmes.On Jan 8, a cricket tournament for men and a throwball tournament for women will be held at Nejaru ground. On Jan 9, 100m and 200m races, musical chairs, lemon-and-spoon race, sack race, and 100m fast walk will be conducted in separate categories at the District Stadium, Ajjarakadu.On Jan 10, various cultural programmes will be held from 10.30am at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium, Rajatadri, according to a release issued by the RDPR and the PDO Association.
