Hubballi: Kasaba Peth police arrested a 43-year-old man on Saturday for assaulting a woman with the intent to murder after allegedly behaving inappropriately in a public place. The accused is Basavaraj Hosamani.Deputy commissioner of police (law and order) Mahaling Nandagavi said that a case was registered at Kasaba Peth police station in connection with the assault. According to the complaint and the woman’s statement, Hosamani followed her from Old Hubballi into a public area, subjected her to inappropriate conduct, and attempted to humiliate her by pulling her to the ground. He then picked up a large stone and struck her on the head with the intention of killing her. Hosamani was taken into custody after the survivor’s statement to police, the DCP said.
