Udupi: A pedestrian, who was crossing the road, died after a car hit him at Brahmavar on Thursday. The deceased is Uday Kumar Shetty. Police said that the accused, Prabhakar Shetty, was driving his car recklessly from Kundapur towards Udupi, when the incident took place. He veered to the extreme right of the road, and ran into Uday Kumar Shetty, who was at the edge of the road divider. Due to the impact, Uday Kumar fell onto the divider and suffered a deep wound on the left side of his forehead and face.He was immediately taken by ambulance to a nearby private hospital for treatment, and then transferred to another hospital in Manipal, where doctors declared that Uday Kumar Shetty passed away. A case has been registered at the Brahmavar Police Station under Sections 281 and 106 of the BNS.
