Mangaluru: All staff working under Sanjeevini – Karnataka State Rural Livelihoods Mission should disseminate information to the public, to rid society of drug addiction, said Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat CEO Narwade Vinayak Karbhari.He was speaking at the ZP office during the release of a poster on a drug-free society on Monday. Under the Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana, a comprehensive ‘Drug-Free Karnataka Campaign’ was launched across the state in collaboration with the govt departments for two months.Continuous awareness campaigns will be conducted to control drug usage in the state. The next phase of the campaign, running up to Sept 30, aims to address the growing misuse of drugs and its adverse effects. To ensure widespread public involvement and education, a series of awareness programs are being organised in every village panchayat, he said.The campaign is being conducted with women’s self-help groups and other communities. Comprehensive awareness is being raised against violence, abuse, and social issues arising from drug use and addiction, the CEO said.Street plays, awareness rallies, lectures, workshops, pamphlets, posters, social media and digital campaigns, health advisory camps, short film screenings, and pledge ceremonies are part of this campaign, he added.
