22 tigers rescued in Karnataka in a month: Khandre

Mysuru/Chamarajanagar: For the first time in Karnataka’s history, a total of 22 tigers, including cubs, were rescued in a month, revealed forest minister Eshwar Khandre.Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a command centre for wildlife-human conflict control in Kollegala, the minister said orders were issued to rescue tigers roaming outside the forest following the loss of three precious lives due to tiger attacks between the last week of Oct and the first week of Nov.The govt had announced the construction of a memorial for the Dasara elephant Arjuna, who was martyred during an elephant capture operation, at the site of his martyrdom in Yeslur, Sakleshpura, Hassan district, and a second one at his home camp – Balle in Kodagu. The memorial was constructed accordingly, and the inauguration already took place in Balle. Following the advice of legislators, some basic facilities are being provided in Yesalur, and the inauguration will take place after the winter session, informed forest minister Eshwar B Khandre.
