Bengaluru: As Karnataka marked Rajyotsava, the city came alive with colour, music, and cultural energy at ‘Krishna to Kaveri: Celebrating the Confluences of Karnataka’ — a two-day festival held at Bangalore International Centre in collaboration with Azim Premji University. The event showcased the state’s artistic diversity through vibrant performances, including Puja Kunitha, Somana Kunitha, and soulful musical renditions by Pt Vinayak Toravi and Shilpa Mudbi Kothakota. The artists captured Karnataka’s cultural essence, drawing parallels between its rivers, people, and traditions.Artist-scholar and screenwriter Nagathihalli Chandrashekar summed up the spirit of the celebration, saying, “Karnataka’s culture is like its rivers — always flowing, connecting people and traditions across regions.”Inaugurating the festival, BL Shankar, president of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, highlighted the importance of shared heritage and cultural pride. Beyond performances, the festival offered spoken Kannada workshops, heritage quizzes, and art exhibitions, engaging audiences of all ages in a joyful celebration of the state’s identity.
