Mysuru: Medical education and skill development minister Sharan Prakash Patil on Tuesday informed that among the over 2 lakh beneficiaries of the Yuva Nidhi scheme, only 1,500 youths underwent skill training so far. Urging the youth to make the best use of training opportunities, he said, “We appeal to the beneficiaries to take up skill training and secure good jobs.”Skill training institute to be set upThe minister also announced that a mega skill training institute will soon be established in Varuna, the home constituency of CM Siddaramaiah.Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Patil said that as many as 24,000 candidates have already registered for the Mysuru division-level Mega Job Fair, scheduled to be held on Oct 17 at Maharaja’s College Grounds. A total of 221 companies will take part in the event, offering around 45,000 vacancies across various sectors.In the Mysuru division alone, among the 43,557 Yuva Nidhi beneficiaries, 3,158 candidates have registered for the job fair. Candidates can also register on the day of the event or online at https://udyogamela.ksdckarnataka.com The minister urged more aspirants to participate and make full use of the opportunity.He stated that employers will select candidates based on their skills, and those who do not secure jobs will be provided with targeted skill training to improve their employability. “This will help them find jobs easily in the coming days,” he said.Patil clarified that under the Yuva Nidhi plus scheme, training is being provided in emerging technologies. He dismissed the misconception that enrolling for skill training would stop the unemployment allowance, explaining that the allowance will continue for two years or until the candidate gets a job, whichever is earlier.
