Dharwad: Two persons were killed on the spot and five others sustained injuries when a Cruiser vehicle rammed into a tree near Hosa Tegur village on the Pune-Bengaluru national highway on Monday morning. The deceased are Suresh Basavanneppa Tuppad, 65, and Mahantamma Basavanneppa Tuppad, 52, both from Gadag. The injured — Geetha Siddaramesh Asundi, Janani Suresh Tuppad, Keerthi Suresh Tuppad, Viraj Siddalingappa Tuppad, and driver Chetan Jadhav — are being treated at the district hospital. The accident occurred when the family was returning to Gadag after visiting Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur. It is suspected that the driver dozed off at the wheel, lost control over the vehicle, and crashed into the tree. SP Gunjan Arya, and DSP Vinod Muktedar, visited the accident spot. PSI Siddaramappa Unnada and his team rushed the injured to the hospital. A case has been registered at Garag police station.
