Davanagere: A person was recently defrauded of Rs 52.3 lakh in Davangere after being enticed with promises of high returns on Online Fraud Case online investments. The victim, a software engineer residing in Anjaneya Layout, lost the money. “Strangers added me to a WhatsApp group. They convinced me to invest in a company named Paytm Money, promising high returns. They sent me a link and even created my profile. Later, I transferred Rs 52.3 lakh online, promising higher profits. Afterwards, they threatened me without returning the money,” the victim reported. A case was registered at the CEN crime police station.
