Gadag: A farmer allegedly died by suicide due to a financial crisis in Kuntoji village of Gadag district. The deceased is identified as Mallikarjungouda Basanagouda Gonal, 46. His family members stated in their complaint filed with Gajendragad police station that Gonal bought a tractor by obtaining a loan of Rs 10 lakh from a finance company, Rs 3 lakh from a bank in Kushtagi, Rs 1.5 lakh from a self-help group, and Rs 2 lakh from a commission agent. “As he was unable to repay the loans, he took this drastic step,” they added. Gajendragad police registered a case and are investigating.
