UDUPI: An 18-year-old engineering student reportedly drowned at Malpe Beach on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Mithun. According to the police, Dileep K, 41, from Hassan, filed a complaint stating that his relative Mithun, who was pursuing an engineering course in Mosale Hosahalli village, went on a trip with friends on October 3. During the trip, they visited the Gundya Chowdeshwari Temple and Kutharu Adisthala Koragajja Swamy Temple for darshan. Around 5:15 p.m., they proceeded to Malpe Beach, where Mithun reportedly entered the sea to play in the water. A strong wave suddenly hit, and he was swept away by the current and went missing. The following day, at around 5:15 a.m., Mithun’s body was found at Kadike Asare Beach. Malpe Police Station has registered an Unnatural Death Report case under Section 194 of BNSS in connection with the incident.
