Various organisations offered flowers to the statue of Gandhi at KMC-RI Circle, Hubballi. Jayanti was celebrated by lighting a lamp in front of the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi in the NWKRTC central office in Hubballi. Vivekanand Vishwajna, chief traffic manager, who presided, said that it is necessary to follow his ideals in our administration and personal lives and follow the path laid down by him. Ganesh Rathod, chief security and vigilance officer, said it is also the birth anniversary of India’s second prime minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and he spoke about his simplicity. The District Congress Committee celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by garlanding the statue of Gandhi in front of KMC-RI Hospital in Hubballi. Legislative council member FH Jakappannavar and others were present. The Hubballi division of South Western Railway organised a programme at SSS Hubballi Railway Station for Gandhi/Shastri Jayantiand the conclusion of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva – 2025′ campaign. Divisional railway manager Bela Meena lauded Mahatma Gandhi’s invaluable role in gaining independence to India and paid tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri, and urged everyone to uphold his inspiring slogan, ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’.
