Madikeri: As part of the Yuva Dasara celebrations, the Madikeri Dasara Committee, in collaboration with Green City Forum and the Clean Coorg Initiative, organised a cycle jatha to promote awareness on the harmful effects of plastic use and drug consumption. The jatha, flagged off at General Thimmaiah Circle and concluding at Gandhi Maidan, saw enthusiastic participation from local community leaders and over 60 cyclists — including children and senior citizens. The event sent a strong message about environmental consciousness. In contrast, a superbike roadshow at the Kala Sambhram stage captivated the youth. It featured a fleet of powerful bikes ranging from 600cc to 1,400cc. The show was led by the Coorg SuperBikes team comprising 18 riders. Despite a slight delay due to rain, the superbike jatha — starting and ending at Gandhi Maidan — continued as planned, with all necessary safety measures in place. The two contrasting events showcased the diverse spirit of Yuva Dasara — balancing social awareness with cultural entertainment. The active involvement of community leaders and the public reflected the ongoing commitment to both social causes and festive celebration.
