Madikeri: Despite the efforts of many forces to destabilise India, the nation was recognised as one of the developing countries of the world, opined RSS activist Udot Chandra, who called on people to join hands for a unified India.Delivering a keynote speech at the grand torchlight procession organised on Saturday night by Somwarpet Taluk Hindu Jagarana Vedike as part of the Unified India Day in Madapura, he said that everyone should strive to unite the divided India. The Israelis, who were scattered and divided among different countries, returned to their motherland after 2,000 years and showed their strength to the whole world, he said.At the beginning, a torchlight procession started from the Chamundeshwari Temple. Men, women, and children marched in the torchlight procession, carrying saffron flags. The procession moved through the main streets of Madapura and ended at the Ganapathi temple.The meeting was presided over by S Cheekanda Ganapathi, ex-servicemen of the 30th Infantry Regiment. District coordinator Sunil Madapura, taluk coordinators Umesh Somwarpet, and Suraj Madapura, and coordinator of Hindu Suraksha Samiti Jayaram were present.Police led by DSP Chandrashekhar supervised the security.
