Sandur (Ballari): A 4-year-old boy lost his life after accidentally falling into an open drain filled with sewage water near his house in Kurekuppa village, Sandur taluk on Thursday.The child, P Aravind, a resident of 6th ward in Kurekuppa, was on his way to visit his grandfather when he slipped and fell into the drain. As night fell and the boy did not return, his worried parents began a search. Hours later, they found his body floating in the sewage. He was rushed to Jindal Hospital, but the doctors confirmed that he had died from drowning. A nearby CCTV recorded the heart-wrenching footage of the boy’s fall and his struggle in the water. This further fuelled public outrage, with the grieving parents accusing the municipal officials of negligence for failing to cover or secure the drain. A case was filed at Torangal police station in this connection.
