Chikkamagaluru: Lokayukta police have registered an FIR against Sringeri MLA TD Rajegowda and his family under the Prevention of Corruption Act.The case was registered by the Lokayukta police following an order from a special court for public representatives, based on a private complaint filed by HK Dinesh, a BJP leader and resident of Koppa. In his complaint, Dinesh alleged that Rajegowda was involved in corruption, abuse of power, and fraud against the govt and the income tax department, requesting a thorough investigation. The court, after hearing the case, ordered an FIR to be filed and an investigation to be conducted.The complaint also mentioned that Rajegowda’s family members acquired assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. Dinesh previously submitted these documents to the Lokayukta, requesting an investigation. The Lokayukta police superintendent, after an investigation, reported in 2023 that the allegations were baseless. The complainant challenged this in the special court for public representatives.Lokayukta police have now filed another FIR and stated that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted. The MLA was not available for comments.
