Mysuru: Even as Mysuru city cops prepare the security for the Dasara festivites in two phases, by roping in nearly 6,400 cops, the officers came up with evacuation plans in case of emergency at all Dasara venues, including the Dasara procession route during the festival between Sept 22 and Oct 2.The recent meeting with DG & IGP MA Saleem prompted the city police to devise an emergency plan. After the recent stampede in Bengaluru, during the RCB celebration rally, Karnataka police are not taking any chances with regard to public safety, given the crowd expected to gather during the procession.Commissioner of police Seema Latkar, informed that they drew up evacuation plans involving all departments, hospitals, and agencies concerned, to immediately attend to any emergency. The plan facilitates the movement of health and emergency service vehicles to the spot without any hassles.Earlier, briefing about the security plans for the Dasara festival, Seema Latkar told reporters that about 6,384 personnel included one Rapid Action Force (RAF) of approximately 100 men and women, and 1,200 home guards were roped in for a two-phase security arrangement. Events will be held at different venues, including Chamundi Hills, Mysuru Palace, Banni Mantap Grounds, Maharaja’s College Grounds, Dasara Exhibition Grounds, Devaraja Urs multi-purpose Stadium, and Curzon Park.A total of 26 ambulances and 32 fire trucks will be deployed at key locations. Besides, a booklet containing safety guidelines for the public will be distributed to ensure their safety and security.As a precaution, drone cameras will be used for surveillance at key Dasara event locations. Surprise inspections will be conducted at lodges, and suspicious individuals will be questioned. Round-the-clock patrolling will be conducted at railway and bus stations, with suspicious individuals being interrogated. In addition to the existing 30,614 CCTV cameras installed under the Karnataka Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act-2017 and other permanent CCTV cameras, as many as 200 more CCTV cameras will be installed at Mysuru Palace, Bannimantap Grounds, the procession route, and other key locations during the festival.A rowdy parade will be conducted, and warnings will be issued to known troublemakers to refrain from engaging in any disruptive activities. Joint inspection of MCC identified old, under-construction, and dilapidated buildings along the procession route, was conducted and instructions were issued to prevent public access.Additional personnel have been deployed to the Social Media Monitoring Cell to monitor and curb the spread of false information on social media. Legal action will be taken against those engaging in such activities.
