Udupi: Over 270kg of Anna Bhagya scheme rice, allegedly being illegally transported in an autorickshaw at Padukere, Manuru village, was seized on Wednesday.According to police, the complainant, food inspector of Brahmavar V Vasanth Kumar, 48, stated that on Wednesday, acting on information that rice meant for distribution under the Anna Bhagya scheme was being transported illegally without any licence in an auto rickshaw at Padukere, Manuru village, a raid was conducted along with police officials and staff. During the raid, it was confirmed that priority and Antyodaya ration rice under the Anna Bhagya scheme, meant for cardholders, was being transported. A total of 274.3kg of rice stored in seven bags was seized from the rickshaw, police said.Based on the complaint, action was initiated against the accused Rajesh, a resident of Kotatattu village, Brahmavar, and against the vehicle. In this connection, a case was registered at Kota police station under Sections 3, 5, 6(A), and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and Sections 3(2) and 18(1) of the Karnataka Essential Commodities (Public Distribution System) Public Control Order, 2016.
