Madikeri: Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Ajay Maken on Monday visited Kodagu to inspect the land identified for the establishment of a sports hostel in Kodagu.Virajpet MLA AS Ponnanna was present during the visit, and plans were discussed for the implementation of the project.The MLA informed Maken about the benefits of establishing a sports hostel in Kodagu. Ponnanna said that this would benefit the athletes of Kodagu and across the state. He said that he discussed the project and its benefits with Maken, who assured to provide grants for the project. The MP also visited the spot and inspected the 1.12-acre land sanctioned for the project, said Ponnanna.He disclosed that Maken had assured to release the required fund for the project from the MP local area development grant.Ponnanna explained that basic preparations for the construction work are already in progress and will be formally launched in Nov in the presence of the chief minister, sports minister, and the MP.
