Youth killed, another injured after sambar deer leaps onto motorcycle in Karnataka

UDUPI: A temple visit turned tragic near Shankaranarayana on Saturday when a motorcycle carrying two youths collided with a sambar deer, leaving one dead and the other injured. The deceased is Shreyas, 22.In his complaint, Vignesh (19), a resident of Kavradi village in Kundapur, stated that the accident occurred while he was returning from Kamalashile Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple with his friend Shreyas, who was riding the motorcycle, while he was seated as a pillion rider.At around 2:30 p.m., while travelling on the Siddapur–Kamalashile road and reaching near Tarekodlu, a sambar deer suddenly leapt onto the motorcycle. As a result, both the complainant and Shreyas fell on the road along with the motorcycle and sustained injuries. Local people took them to the Siddapur Primary Health Centre, where doctors administered first aid and advised that they be shifted to Kundapur for further treatment.Accordingly, they were taken in an ambulance, and the complainant was admitted to a private hospital while Shreyas was taken to Kundapur Govt Hospital. However, Shreyas succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. Meanwhile, the sambar deer also passed away. A case has been registered at the Shankaranarayana Police Station.
