Chief minister Siddaramaiah Friday said the govt has approved compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of pourakarmikas working in urban local bodies (ULBs) who die while on duty. The benefit will apply only to regular employees drawing salaries directly from municipal bodies, he said.The announcement was made during a meeting with representatives of pourakarmikas employed across ULBs in the state. The CM said the govt is working to fill vacancies, with 492 of 2,992 vacant posts already filled. Japan co to invest 882cr for solar cell manufacturing Industries minister MB Patil Friday said Japan’s Hosoda Holdings will establish a solar cell manufacturing unit in Karnataka at an estimated cost of Rs 882 crore. According to a release issued by the minister’s office, the unit by Hosoda will be implemented in collaboration with Tong Thar Energy Solutions (TTES).
