Udupi: A 24-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed by her neighbour for refusing to marry him, at Kokkarne in Brahmavar on Friday. Rakshitha, a resident of Chegributtu in Kokkarne, was stabbed by her neighbour on her birthday around 8.30 am. She succumbed to her injuries in a hospital. Meanwhile, the suspect Karthik Poojary was found dead in a well in the vicinity. The victim sustained stab injuries to the neck and the right and left sides of the rib area, around the chest.Rakshitha, who worked as a contract worker in the survey department, was attacked while she was walking towards the bus stand. Police suspect that the objection by Rakshitha’s family to the marriage proposal from the accused could be the reason for the incident. She blocked his number on her mobile phone for two weeks, after her family raised objections to the proposal.
