Car catches fire near Karnataka chief minister’s house; no foul play

Bengaluru: Commotion prevailed near the official residence of chief minister Siddaramaiah on Kumarakrupa Road when a private car caught fire Friday. However, there were no casualties as the two occupants got out of the vehicle in time.The incident occurred around 11.30am when the car, owned by Sachin from Koramangala and driven by Venkatesh, reached the Windsor Manor signal. Venkatesh noticed smoke coming from the engine. According to Sachin, they were heading towards RT Nagar for official work at a sub-registrar’s office.Quickly, the car was taken near the compound wall of the CM’s residence. By then, flames appeared beneath the bonnet. Sachin and Venkatesh already exited the vehicle and police deployed outside the CM’s residence rushed to the spot and tried to douse the fire with water. The fire was eventually extinguished and police confirmed there was no foul play involved in the accident.
