MANGALURU: A 44-year-old woman died in a road accident on the National Highway at Kulur on Tuesday.The deceased was identified as Madhavi, a resident of Udupi.According to police, the accident occurred around 8.30 am when Madhavi was travelling from her home in Baikapanady to the hospital where she worked as a lab technician in the blood bank. Her scooter reportedly skidded on a pothole, causing her to fall onto the road, where she was run over by a fish-laden lorry. She sustained serious injuries and died on the spot.The Mangaluru North Traffic Police have registered a case of negligence against the lorry driver and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).The incident sparked anger among locals, who blamed the poor condition of the highway for the tragedy. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) K. Ravi Shankar visited the site. Residents demanded that highway officials inspect the road and take urgent steps to repair it.
