Govt school teacher suspended in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi: An assistant teacher at Sheribhikanalli Govt Lower Primary School in Chincholi taluk of Kalaburagi district was suspended after a video that showed him verbally abusing education department officials while smoking a cigarette went viral on social media.The accused teacher, Gururaja Kulkarni, was suspended for dereliction of duty under sub-rule (1)(i), (ii), (iii), sub-rule (2)(i), (iii), (iv), and sub-rule (5)(ix), (x), (xi), (xiv) of rule 3 of the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Rules-2021. Block education officer (BEO) Lakshmayya signed the suspension order on Monday.The video shows Kulkarni saying “all the department officials are corrupt and harassing me for money. They will suspend me for sure. Even if I get suspended, I’m not afraid…” He also threatened to shoot corrupt officials if he got a gun. Responding to the incident, DDPI Suryakanth Madane said: “The drunken and rude behaviour of a teacher at Chincholi’s Sheribhikanalli Tanda School has gone to the extreme. Such teachers will not be kept in the department. I have informed the BEO concerned to suspend him immediately.”
