Mysuru: The Dasara Fine Arts Sub-Committee has organised a variety of events as part of the Mysuru Dasara celebration between Sept 22 and 30, said Devaraju A, commissioner, Archaeology Museum, who is also the Dasara deputy special officer.The events, including the Togalu Gombe wall painting camp and an exhibition of traditional Mysore-style paintings for Dasara, will be held at the Chamarajendra Government College of Visual Arts, Siddharthanagar. Kannada and culture minister Shivaraj S. Tangadagi will inaugurate the event on Sept 22, at 4pm.In association with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, an exhibition of traditional and contemporary Mysore-style paintings has been arranged. Togalu Gombe wall painting camp is also organised in association with the Karnataka Fine Arts Academy.An exhibition featuring professional and amateur artists from various parts of the state has been organised from Sept 26 to 30. To encourage professional and amateur artists and introduce the public to various art forms, a state-level art exhibition has been planned, inviting artworks from artists across the state. The best artworks will be selected by judges and displayed. The expo-cum-sale will be open to the public from 10.30am to 6.30pm. The programme will be inaugurated on Sept 26 by district minister HC Mahadevappa.In collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Museum of Mankind, Bhopal, and the Karnataka Handicrafts Development Corporation, Bengaluru, the subcommittee is organising a national-level exhibition, demonstration, and sale fair of handicrafts created by artists. This includes artworks from various states, such as leather crafts and Warli painting.A unique and special effort is being made during Dasara to provide a direct platform between artists and art enthusiasts. To provide a platform for the artworks of the general public, students, and emerging artists, a one-day exhibition and sale of artworks has been organised in association with the College Alumni Association on Sept 28. Artists will be provided with free stalls without any registration fee.Other events include on-site painting and clay art competitions for children of various age groups, along with demonstrations of various traditional crafts. Documentaries collected on various art forms and senior artists who have excelled in art forms, as well as scholars from various art fields, will be screened daily from Sept 23 to 30 from 2pm to 4.30pm, he stated.
