Madikeri: Seventeen teachers from Kodagu district were awarded the Best Teachers’ Award by the education department as part of Teachers’ Day celebrations.The awardees include Monakalmuri Government Lower Primary School teacher KR Shalini in Madikeri taluk, Arekadu Higher Primary School teacher AD Meenakshi, Hakathur Government High School teacher M Vanaja, Badubanahalli Government Higher Primary School Teacher KV Jhansi in Somwarpet taluk, Kudige Government Model Higher Primary School headmaster SA Yogesh, Kodlipet Pre-University College (high school division) headmaster MS Abdul Rab, Emmegundi Government Lower Primary School teacher AK Machamma in Virajpet taluk, Chennangi Government Higher Primary School teacher KK Susha, and Devanageri BC High School headmaster HD Lokesh.The award for the private school category was given to TE Sulhat of Regina Vincent of Crescent School, Madikeri, BS Sudesh of Kaveri School, Virajpet, Margaret Nevil of Kushalnagar Crescent School, S Chaitra of Unique Academy, Jhansi Thammaiah, teacher of Ammatthi Machimanda Devaiah Memorial School, BR Padmavathi of Bret Public School, Virajpet, and Veda Bopanna of Coorg Public School, Gonikoppa.State award for KumarHK Kumar, headmaster of Gonikoppa Higher Primary School, was awarded the state-level award for the Best Teacher. He has been working as the headmaster at Gonikoppal Government Higher Primary School for the past three years and formulated several projects for the development of the school.
