NEW DELHI: The pendency of the case regarding the OBC creamy layer in Supreme Court will not affect the seniority of successful candidates of 2025 batch even though their service allocation and foundation course are still to be finalised, official sources said on Sunday.DoPT officials said, “The department and all training institutes are prepared to allocate services expeditiously to CSE- 2025 candidates and commence foundation course at the earliest. Delay in commencement of the foundation course will have no bearing on the seniority, gradation or other service conditions of the candidates.”The clarification concerns the fate of successful candidates in the wake of SC’s Rohith Nathan judgement of March 11 in which it had said “salary” cannot be added to “income” for defining “creamy layer” criteria for any category of OBC candidates, including those whose parents are employed in PSUs/banks, etc. The judgement pertained to the case of candidates from PSU background being categorised over the years as “creamy layer” by including “salary” in the “income” of their parents.
