VTU plans annual curriculum update

Mysuru: Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is planning to revise or update its curriculum almost every year to align with changing industry requirements, said S Vidyashankar, VTU vice chancellor.He was speaking virtually at a one-day Faculty Development Programme on Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, and AI and Its Application–2025 Scheme, organised by Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) in association with VTU on Saturday.He said the intention is to improve the employability of students. “Earlier, we revised the curriculum once in four years. The last revision was in 2022, but now, to meet industry requirements, we have decided to revise or update the curriculum every year,” said Vidyashankar.VVCE principal B Sadashive Gowda said that for the 2025-26 academic year, VTU has completely revised the first-year curriculum. “A new subject, Introduction to AI and Application, has been introduced along with project-based learning. The idea is for students to practically apply skills and also understand the relevance of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in engineering,” he said.More than 300 faculty members participated in the programme. Gundappa Gowda, president of VVS, P Vishwanath, secretary, S Ramannavar, treasurer; Hema Patil, regional director of VTU were present.
