PUNE: Police investigating the murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agrawal are examining whether prime accused Siya Goyal’s online activity could shed light on the alleged planning behind the crime. As per the sources, investigators say the browsing history recovered from a mobile phone seized from her shows that she searched for details of the high-profile Raja Raghuvanshi murder case in Meghalaya, in which Sonam Raghuvanshi is accused of conspiring to kill her husband during their honeymoon.Sources claimed that the searches are being analysed as part of the digital trail collected in the case because they relate to another alleged murder conspiracy involving a woman accused of plotting her partner’s killing. While police have not drawn any conclusions from the searches, they believe the browsing history could help establish the sequence of events and the accused’s online activity before Ketan Agrawal’s death.Police sources said the search history included queries such as “What questions were asked to Sonam Raghuvanshi?” and “How did Sonam Raghuvanshi get bail from the high court?”Police are examining the significance of the searches as part of the ongoing probe into the alleged conspiracy behind Ketan Agrawal’s murder.‘Secret marrige’ under scannerThe digital trail has surfaced even as cops continue to scrutinise another major development in the case — claims that Siya Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, had secretly married months before Agrawal’s death.According to a PTI report, Pune Rural Police suspect the accused couple solemnised a secret marriage before the crime, though officials said they are still verifying the claim.“Analysis of chats exchanged between Siya and Chetan indicates that they had secretly married. There are unconfirmed reports also about their marriage. We are verifying this claim and also checking whether the marriage was legally registered,” a senior Pune Rural Police official told PTI.Police are also examining mobile phone data, WhatsApp chats and other digital evidence recovered from the accused to reconstruct the alleged conspiracy.According to police, Siya Goyal (20) and Chaudhary (22) conspired to eliminate 25-year-old realtor Ketan Agrawal because he had become an obstacle in their relationship.Police claim the couple meticulously planned the murder and even rehearsed how to execute it before allegedly pushing Ketan off a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune district on June 18. The two have been arrested in connection with the case.Meanwhile, the Google searches recovered from Goyal’s phone have drawn attention because they relate to the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case involving Sonam Raghuvanshi.Last Friday, the Supreme Court had refused to stay a Meghalaya high court order granting bail to Sonam Raghuvanshi, who is accused of killing her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya in 2025.A bench of Justice M M Sundresh and Justice Sheel Nagu expressed reservations about the high court’s order but declined to stay it, noting that Sonam had already been released from jail and was complying with the bail conditions imposed by the trial court.Sonam Raghuvanshi, a resident of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, was arrested in June last year after police alleged that she conspired with hired assailants to murder her businessman husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, for financial gain. The couple had gone missing while vacationing in Meghalaya’s Sohra area on May 23 last year. Raja’s body was later recovered from a deep gorge on June 2, 2025.On June 29, the Meghalaya high court upheld the trial court’s order granting bail to Sonam, dismissing the state government’s plea seeking cancellation of her bail. The high court observed that the manner in which the grounds of arrest had been prepared reflected a “total non-application of judicious mind.”(With agency inputs)
