Take necessary steps to overcome fertiliser shortage, says official | Hubballi News
Ballari: KV Trilokchandra, district in-charge secretary of the commissioner, school education department, and ZP administrator, issued directives regarding precautionary steps to address the farmers’ fertiliser shortage concerns.He gave these instructions while attending the quarterly KDP progress review meeting as the chairman of the zilla panchayat on Saturday.Joint director of agriculture Somasunder T explained that the district’s fertiliser demand was calculated to be 27,025 metric tons until July. The total available quantity, including previous stock, was 34,163 metric tons. Currently, 25,887 metric tons were distributed, leaving 8,286 metric tons in storage.Trilokchandra emphasised that the agriculture department must take the high demand for urea from farmers seriously, despite the fertiliser stockpiling initiative. He recommended, “If there are any reports of fertilisers being sold at inflated prices or if artificial shortages are being created, the DC and SP should be notified.”During the discussion regarding the health department, DC Prashant Kumar Mishra remarked that the BMCRC is lacking ambulances, and doctors and staff are failing to provide timely services to the public. “I receive daily complaints that they are charging for blood, medicines, and even the wheelchair service,” he voiced his concerns.Trilokchandra instructed that power lines over anganwadi centres and schools must be removed, citing a court order. He directed DDPI, the women and child development officer, and Gescom officials to conduct an immediate survey and take necessary action.The meeting was attended by SP Shobharani VJ, zilla panchayat CEO Mohammed Harris Sumair, various district-level department officials, and EOs of taluk panchayats.
