Mangaluru: A truck driver from Nelamangala, Bengaluru, died after slipping into a concrete drain dug for road construction near Nelyadka in Belthangady taluk early on Thursday. The deceased is Hunamantharayappa,60.In a complaint, Rajshekhar,37, a resident of Nelamangala, stated that his father Hunamantharayappa was employed as a truck driver. While driving the truck from Mangaluru towards Bengaluru, he stopped the vehicle beside the national highway near Nelyadka in Rekhya village, Belthangady taluk, around 1 am.When he alighted from the vehicle, either to relieve himself or for some other reason, he accidentally slipped and fell into a concrete drain dug for road construction. Though he was immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment, he is believed to have died en route.A case was registered at the Dharmasthala police station.
