Mangaluru: A sales manager flagged a shop here selling counterfeit protein powder, manufactured under his firm’s brand name. In a complaint, the sales manager stated that their company is the authorised seller of the product. They received reliable information that a shop near PVS was selling fake powder along with other products of their company.Following instructions from the company directors, on Aug 20, the complainant visited the shop posing as a customer and purchased 1 kg of powder. The purchased product was presented to a director of the company in Bengaluru, and the product verified. Scanning the QR code on the product package using the company’s Let’s Verify app revealed that it was counterfeit. Furthermore, the package incorrectly mentioned the flavour as chocolate, whereas the company manufactures double rich chocolate, choco peanut and choco hazel fusion flavours. The letters printed on the package were found to be incorrect.After confirming the counterfeit nature of the product, the company issued an official consent letter, which was submitted to police along with details of the next course of action. A case was registered at the Mangaluru North police station.
