Tangadagi challenges BYV to protest outside Modi’s residence

Koppal: District minister Shivaraj Tangadagi challenged BJP state President BY Vijayendra to stage a protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s residence regarding shortage of urea fertiliser.“Urea is provided by the central govt. This year, sowing commenced a month and a half earlier in the state. The quota that was expected is still pending. However, the BJP is attempting to mislead the public,” he stated with displeasure.Tangadagi accused the BJP of gaining power through deception and stated that it was not trustworthy. He pointed out that despite submitting reports about early rains and urgent urea requirements, the Union govt failed to ensure proper fertiliser supply.Addressing the farmers’ concerns, the minister urged to end political interference. “Even if it is delayed by a couple of days, we will provide fertiliser to the farmers. We will hold a meeting of the officials and get information about the fertiliser demand in the district. Farmers should not worry,” he assured.Tangadagi claimed that the BJP is the one playing politics with the fertiliser matter. “What does former MLA Basavaraj Dadesugur, who stated he will initiate a Koppal bandh on August 1, know? He is someone who vandalised his own car and accused another party,” he quipped.Agri minister, officials accused of selling fertilisers in black marketHubballi: Agriculture minister N Cheluvarayaswamy and department officials are involved in corruption by selling fertilisers in the black market, said BJP State Raith Morcha President and former MLA AS Patil Nadahalli.Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Nadahalli alleged that 2.5 lakh tonnes of fertiliser are sold in the black market in the state. “Cheluvarayaswamy is ignorant about the geography of the state. He has equally distributed urea, neglecting aspects like rainfall, weather, agricultural area, and requirement. Now he is not in a position to meet the demand by shifting the fertilisers from districts where stock is more to districts where demand is more. Thanks to such unscientific distribution, 10 districts of North Karnataka are deprived of the required quantity of fertilisers. Condemning this apathy, we are launching a statewide protest in the coming days. We will hold a protest in Koppal on Aug 1 and continue the same in other districts later,” he stated. He also criticised that CM Siddaramaiah is busy retaining his chair and all other ministers are worried about their power. “This has led to chaos among farmers of the state,” he lamented.
