Mangaluru: Mangalore University (MU) was ranked third in India and 127th in the world in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025, released by the University of Indonesia.The GreenMetric Ranking is based on green campus and environmental sustainability and assesses the university’s commitment to the environment and initiatives towards sustainability.PL Dharma, vice-chancellor, MU, said that the UI GreenMetric ranking evaluates universities on green campus and environmental sustainability initiatives. The assessment is based on six criteria—setting and infrastructure (SI), energy and climate change (EC), waste (WS), water (WR), transportation (TR), and education and research (ED).In category-wise national performance, Mangalore University ranked first in India for setting and infrastructure, fourh for energy and climate change, sixth for waste, sixth for water, tenth for education and research, and 11th for transportation.A total 100 Indian universities participated in the 2025 rankings, while 1,745 institutions from 105 countries participated worldwide. The results were announced in Dec 2025.
