Mangaluru: Kudla Shvana Pradarshana, a dog show to be organised as part of Karavali Utsav-2026, will showcase over 300 dogs of nearly 25 breeds at Karavali Utsav Maidan here on Jan 25. The show will be organised jointly by the district administration, the ZP, and animal husbandry and veterinary services, between 2pm and 8pm.DC Darshan HV, who has registered the names of his pets — Yuki (golden retriever) and Tora (labrador) — for the dog show, said the show’s champion will get a prize of Rs 25,000.The second, third, fourth, and fifth champions will get Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000, and Rs 5,000, in that order.Participants will showcase labrador, golden retriever, German shepherd, rottweiler, beagle, Siberian husky, rajapalyam, maltese, chihuahua, dalmatian, Mudhol, pug, dachshund, dobermann, boxer, bulldog, shih tzu, pit bull, pomeranian, lhasa apso, cocker spaniel, great dane and other breeds. A special dog show will be presented by the Dakshina Kannada police and Mangaluru city police, the DC added.Participants can register their entry on dkdogshow.com by 5pm on Jan 23. Registration for participants and entry for the public is free.Film festivalKaravali Film Festival (KKF) will be organised as part of the utsav at Bharath Cinemas on Jan 19, 20, and 21. The DC said KFF will feature 18 movies originating from the coastal districts, including four Kannada ones. Eleven Tulu cinemas, two Konkani, and one Beary movie will be screened. Emphasis will be given to Tulu films to promote the language. Free entry will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis.
