Koppal: A newborn baby boy suffering from protruding intestines and a kidney-related complication was transported under zero-traffic arrangements from the Mother and Child Hospital in Koppal to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi on Sunday.The infant, born to Mallappa and Vijayalakshmi of Guttur village in Kukanur taluk, was brought to the govt hospital in Kukanur on the night of Dec 27. During delivery, the baby’s intestines protruded, requiring immediate specialised medical attention.After providing initial treatment at the Mother and Child Hospital in Koppal, doctors decided to shift the newborn to KIMS Hospital, Hubballi, for advanced surgical care. To ensure an uninterrupted transfer, a convoy of five ambulances, staffed with paramedics who provided continuous medical support, was arranged.Police personnel from Koppal, Gadag, and Dharwad districts coordinated to clear major roads and maintain zero traffic throughout the journey. The ambulance carrying the infant was driven by Prakash.Despite undergoing surgery, the newborn’s condition remains critical, and doctors are continuing their efforts to save his life.
