Udupi police holds award ceremony of firearm training camp

Mangaluru: A prize distribution ceremony was held at the District DAR Central Office here on Friday for the participants of the civilian firearm training camp and the winners of competitions held as part of the Cyber Security Awareness Month.From Oct 10 to 30, Udupi district police conducted a special social media campaign as part of Cyber Awareness Month. The event was attended by SP Hariram Shankar. Certificates were distributed to 200 candidates who completed the civilian firearms training. Additionally, as part of the Cyber Security Awareness Month, certificates were awarded to the winners of competitions where the public and police created reels, memes, or images related to cyber safety and posted them on social media with hashtags #CyberJagruthiUdupi and #CyberSafeUdupi.From Oct 15 to 30, the official social media accounts of the district police posted 20 cyber awareness posts and 25 related videos, and latter were screened at movie theatres to raise awareness about cyber safety.Police visited approximately 74 schools/ colleges and public places across the district to raise awareness about cyber fraud and administered a cyber safety pledge to 5,037 people. A link was provided for taking the cyber safety pledge online, and 666 people received a certificate via email, said SP Hariram Shankar.WinnersWhile the Action Creation Team Katapadi bagged the first prize in the reels competition (for the public), the department of cyber security with proton association and NSS IT Wing, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, and Jolly Ride (Instagram page) secured second place. Made in Kundapur (Instagram page) and Pranati bagged the first and second prizes, respectively, in the meme competition. While Parikshit Achar bagged the first place in the drawing competition, Arya won the second prize.In the Cyber Awareness video for police personnel, Manjunath, HC, Shirva police station, bagged the first prize, while Dinesh M, HC, Ajekar station, and Pavankumar M, PC, CEN Station, secured the second place. Srujan Shetty and Sachin Shetty were honoured with mementos for their cooperation in the campaign.
