Spine Public Space project work to begin soon in Hubballi

Hubballi: The Hubballi-Dharwad BRTS company is set to begin work on the Spine Public Space project at Navanagar, Hubballi, aimed at creating a sustainable, people-friendly urban hub. Approved by DULT at a cost of Rs 3 crore, it will feature a cycle track, children’s play equipment, and other amenities. The foundation stone will be laid soon.According to a source in BRTS, the development work will be carried out next to the BRTS bus station at Navanagar. This place is situated between Hubballi and Dharwad, exactly in the middle. The residents of Navanagar, Amaragol, Amar Colony, and surrounding areas, as well as the public, can enjoy the facilities. The project will stand as a landmark development, offering vibrant and inclusive facilities for people of all age groups.HD-BRTS general manager R Gudaraddi said that the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) approved the Spine Project costing Rs 3 crore. “The project includes a dedicated cycle track, children’s play equipment, and more. MLA Arvind Bellad took a keen interest in developing the Spine Project for the benefit of residents here. Soon, the foundation stone will be laid,” he said.Gudaraddi said that the work will be held on HDMC land, approximately 250m away from the bus station. The construction of a bituminous road for smooth connectivity within the space and other amenities will be provided, he said.HDMC ward No 23 corporator, Manjunath Burli, said the project was planned in 2023. “Due to changes in the plan and other issues, the project got delayed. After meeting with officials, elected representatives, and residents, it was decided to provide a people-friendly hub. Plans and designs have been made. Soon, the work will start,” he said.Spine ProjectThe project is designed to enhance the livability of the city and provide quality recreational infrastructure for residents to promote eco-friendly mobility. Parts A, B, C, and D have been designed. Installation of children’s play equipment for safe and engaging recreational activities, open-air gym equipment to encourage health and fitness, construction of gazebo structures for relaxation and community use, installation of street lights to improve safety and accessibility, and installation of bollard lights for enhanced aesthetics and a pedestrian-friendly ambience, etc, will be developed.
