Bengaluru: A 60-year-old realtor and his family made a suicide pact over a suspected debt issue at their Hegganahalli residence near Devanahalli Thursday. While the man and his elder son died, his wife and younger son survived but are in critical condition.The deceased are identified as Kumarappa and K Arun Kumar, 30. Kumarappa’s wife, K Rama, 55, and younger son K Akshay Kumar, 25, are undergoing treatment in a hospital, and their condition is critical, police said.A suicide note written by Kumarappa said he was harassed by his debtors, abetting the suicide pact. While Kumarappa, Rama, and Akshay consumed poison, Arun hanged himself from the ceiling fan of the bedroom, police added.“Kumarappa was running a real estate business in and around Devanahalli for over two decades. According to close family members, Kumarappa was in debt and under pressure to repay the money. Recently, some of his debtors visited his house, and heated arguments ensued between them. The deceased, Rakesh, a resident of Hulimavu, was studying in the third year of BBA at a private university on Kanakapura Road.Rakesh rented a room in a Bilekahalli lodge on Thursday. His friends visited the lodge to check on him when they couldn’t contact him on Friday.The lodge staff opened the door of his room after Rakesh didn’t respond to them. They found his body hanging in the room.Rakesh left his house due to some personal issues to stay in the lodge. No death note was found. His mobile has been seized and will be sent to the forensic science laboratory for data retrieval, police said.The parents are in shock, so police didn’t question them much. His body has been handed over to them after the post-mortem.
