MANGALURU: The Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) reached a new milestone on Oct 1, handling its highest-ever passenger traffic in a single day, with 8,168 passengers and 61 aircraft movements. The figure surpassed the previous record of 8,103 passengers set on April 12, 2025.According to the airport spokesperson, the day saw 58 scheduled flights, 46 on domestic routes and 12 on international sectors, in addition to three non-scheduled operations. These included a chartered flight that brought the deputy chief minister to Mangaluru and two military movements.The airport also recorded 8,086 passengers on February 22, which was its highest count since the commencement of commercial operations on October 31, 2020. With the latest surge, MIA continues to strengthen its position as one of the fastest-growing airports in the region.In the past, the airport processed 8,057 passengers on May 3, 2025, 8,007 passengers on April 30, 2025, 7,613 passengers on Jan 4, 2025, 7,548 passengers on Dec 31, 2023, 7,452 passengers on Nov 25, 2023, 7,406 passengers on Aug 15, 2024, 7,399 passengers on Nov 19, 2023, and 7,350 passengers on Dec 10, 2023.
