Elderly woman robbed of gold chain

Udupi: An elderly woman was attacked and robbed of her gold chain by an unidentified man in Ellare village, Karkala, on Tuesday evening. The complainant, Kumuda,80, stated that the incident took place around 4.30 pm, when she was sitting in the courtyard of her house. An unknown person, aged about 35-40 years, approached her, claiming to be a supervisor from Karkala. He asked questions such as whether there were houses nearby and whether she had a CCTV camera at her house. He then sat there for a while, and around 6 pm, he suddenly came near the complainant, forcibly grabbed her by the neck, pushed her to the ground, and snatched a gold rope chain weighing 25g from her neck before fleeing, she alleged.As a result, the complainant sustained injuries to her forehead, head, right hand, and leg. Shortly after, she was shifted to a hospital, where she received treatment. In this connection, a case was registered at Ajekar police station under Sections 329(3) and 309(4) of the BNS.
