Sowjanya’s relative questioned by SIT

Mangaluru: Activists Jayanth T and Girish Mattanavar continued to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the alleged Dharmasthala mass burial case on Sunday. In a related development, Vittal Gowda, a relative of Sowjanya who was murdered in 2012, is also being questioned by the SIT regarding the skull produced by the complainant. Meanwhile, the complainant was remanded in judicial custody on Saturday, and is currently lodged in Shivamogga jail.It is learnt that the SIT revisited a site, where skeletal remains were found as part of the exhumation process. Sources close to Gowda said police are probing the origin of the skull and verifying the complainant’s claims. The team is currently recording statements from Jayanth, Mattanavar, Gowda, and a local resident. Meanwhile, YouTuber Abhishek is likely to appear before the SIT on Monday, sources added.An SIT officer confirmed Gowda was questioned and said searches and mahazars are being carried out as part of the investigation, but declined to share further details.
