NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has again summoned the managing director and head of Meta India in connection with its inquiry into alleged Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material (CSEAM) advertisements on the platform. The Commission has fixed September 16 for the next hearing and is expected to seek the personal appearance of Meta’s India MD and head after the company was represented by senior executives at the previous hearing on September 9.NCPCR had first issued a notice to Meta on July 3, 2026, seeking an explanation over CSEAM advertisements. Meta submitted its response a week later. The Commission subsequently decided to institute a formal inquiry to establish the facts of the case. As part of the inquiry, it summoned Meta’s India MD and head to appear before the Commission. The Meta head did not appear at the September 9 hearing and the company was represented by senior executives. Meta officials cited urgent reasons for the senior executive’s non-appearance, following which NCPCR directed that the company’s India head be present at the next hearing.
