Mandya: Former Nagamangala JD(S) MLA Suresh Gowda sustained injuries in a car accident on Saturday night near Bonthekoppalu in Mandya taluk after the vehicle he was travelling in overturned.Basaralu Police said the incident occurred while Gowda was returning after attending a marriage function at Vasgove Koppa in Maddur. The driver lost control of the car, resulting in it to flip over. The vehicle suffered partial damage in the mishap. Gowda was travelling along with three others, and all four occupants sustained injuries in the accident. He suffered an injury to his hand, while the driver also sustained injuries. Soon after the vehicle overturned, the former MLA’s gunman alerted the police. Police personnel rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations.
The injured were initially admitted to the Mandya govt hospital for first aid and preliminary treatment. Later, Suresh Gowda and the driver were shifted to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru for treatment. Sources said their condition is stable. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
