Mysuru: A portrait of the celebrated Mysuru Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, visionary founder of KR Hospital, was unveiled by Mysuru royal family matriarch Pramoda Devi Wadiyar at the hospital premises on Tuesday.The portrait, measuring 8 feet by 6 feet and elegantly illuminated with LED lighting, stands as a tribute to the erstwhile ruler’s enduring contribution to public healthcare in the region. Speaking on the occasion, Pramoda said she was honoured to unveil the portrait and thanked Dr KR Dakshayani, dean of Mysore Medical College, and Dr HP Shobha, medical superintendent of KR Hospital.She expressed a deep emotional attachment to the institution, recalling the strong historical bond between the royal family and the hospital.Pramoda lauded the hospital for providing quality medical care to economically weaker sections from Mysuru and neighbouring districts. She acknowledged that occasional complaints are heard and urged the hospital administration to take corrective steps to improve patient care and services. She also appealed to elected representatives, including MLC Dr D Thimmaiah and MLA K Harish Gowda, to give due attention to these concerns, including filling up the vacant posts. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar later administered polio drops to newly born babies at Cheluvamba Hospital (children ward). Dr Nagaraj, Dr Pradeep, and Dr Dakshayani were present.
