Vijayapura: BJP-expelled MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal challenged deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar to show his power, on the lines of CM Siddaramaiah, in the North Karnataka region.Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Yatnal said that a power show is inevitable in today’s politics. “If we don’t show it, our leadership quality won’t be recognised. Siddaramaiah has the power to hold such a show in the North Karnataka region. If Shivakumar has that power, let him show it here. He did not get any response from the audience at the Vijayapura programme. He should understand that popularity can’t be bought, but can only be gained,” he said. When asked about reshuffling in the state BJP leadership, he said that PM Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah know better. “They are ruling the whole country, and they are well-versed in such things,” he added. Asserting his support for the BJP candidate in the Bagalkot bypoll, he stated that he will campaign for the BJP candidate if he is summoned. “I am in direct touch with the high command,” he claimed.Demanding a CBI inquiry into the Ballari banner conflict case, he said the CID will give a clean chit to the accused, as it did in the Mysuru Muda case.
