‘We will continue to hunt them down’: IRGC intelligence chief Majid Khademi killed in US-Israeli strikes

Israel announced on Monday that it killed the head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Majid Khademi, as the Middle East war entered day 38.The country’s defence minister, Israel Katz, made the announcement.“The Revolutionary Guard are shooting at civilians and we are eliminating the leaders of the terrorists. Iran’s leaders live with a sense of being targeted. We will continue to hunt them down one by one,” The Associated Press quoted him as saying.Katz added that Israel had “severely damaged” Iran’s steel and petrochemical industries as well.“We will continue to crush the Iranian national infrastructure and lead to the erosion and collapse of the terrorist regime, and its capabilities to promote terror and fire at the state of Israel,” he said. His comments came after the IRGC announced Khademi’s killing in a post on its Telegram channel.“Major General Majid Khademi, the powerful and educated head of the intelligence organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was martyred in the criminal terrorist attack by the American-Zionist (Israel) enemy… at dawn today,” the post read.Although the IRGC did not elaborate where Khademi was killed, multiple airstrikes targeted residential areas around Iran’s capital, Tehran, in the morning.The United States and Israel have killed several top Iranian leaders, including those from the IRGC, during their ongoing military campaign in Iran. The attacks began on February 28, sparking both Iranian retaliation and the Middle East conflict.The Islamic Republic’s then-Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khameini, was killed on February 28. He has since been succeeded by his son, Mojtaba; however, Mojtaba’s whereabouts are not known, and he is reportedly nursing war-related injuries.(With agency inputs)
